What is the purpose of the 10/10 Program?
The purpose of the 10/10 Program is to assist those Stewards who want to achieve a level of tithing (10% of income) in their Stewardship giving, but don’t currently find themselves in a financial position to do so.
This inspiring and innovative program allows you to begin at a level within your financial comfort zone, and then helps you take a succession of calculated steps, over a sufficient period of time, to ensure that you reach your goal of becoming a Tithing Orthodox Christian Steward.
Are you thinking that this program is out of your range? The truth is, everyone can tithe, provided they have the desire, the motivation, the Faith, and a little help.
How does it work?
You have up to ten years to achieve a level of giving ten percent of your annual income (hence the name 10/10). The only other restriction aside from the 10 year time frame) is that you must begin the program by giving at least 1% of your income (as long as that amount is not less than what you gave in the previous year.) Within that framework, you have almost total flexibility, in regards to what percentage you begin with, by what percentage you increase your giving year by year, and how quickly you wish to arrive at your goal. It really is that simple and it really works!
Why commit to the 10/10 Program?
Without commitment, you will never get there! No matter what your intentions and desires are regarding tithing, without a purposeful commitment, adn the proper support, you will never achieve your goal. The Church, and your fellow Program Participants, will act as a support group to help nurture you through this sacrificial process. The guidance and encouragement of the experienced (those who have walked the path before us), is not only a basic tenet of our Orthodox Spirituality but a cornerstone of this program’s success.
Are there other benefits to committing to this program?
The main benefit, as you will experience, is what God is going to do in your life, because of your commitment. You cannot out-give God, and He is going to prove it to you! Secondly, there will be special gatherings and programs just for 10/10 Participants. These will be both fun and inspiring. Finally, for those participants with underage children, there will be no fees for Parish-related youth activities. As you are making a significant financial commitment to the future of this Parish, we are continually improving our commitment to your kids, without charging you for every opportunity.
