The Triodion & Stewardship (Part I)

After reading the title of this article, you might be saying to yourself (or even others around you), “Now hold on just a minute! Not another piece on Stewardship! Haven’t we heard enough already? We get it! We are not giving enough, and the Church wants us to give more! If I hear the word ‘Stewardship’ one more time, I’m going to go crazy! All this Stewardship talk is starting to turn me off! I just want to come to Church and hear something positive that will help me grow spiritually!” How did I do? (Scary, isn’t it?)
After all this time, if you think that Stewardship is just a new way for the Church to get more of your money, then I’m afraid you have misunderstood entirely. Continue reading
Food Pantry Sunday – Feb. 5th
On Sunday, Jan. 29th, all Church School students will receive a grocery bag during their Church School class. Students are asked to take their bags home and fill them with groceries to be donated to the Northfield Food Pantry. Filled bags should be returned to the atrium next Sunday, Feb. 5th.
Pinstripes Brunch on Feb. 12th
The Parish will be hosting our second Godparent Sunday celebration at Pinstripes on February 12th from 11:45-3pm. Reservation are being taken by phone and email, cgoueltas@hotmail.com or (847) 989-3382, or in the fellowship hall after Divine Liturgy. You do not want to miss out on this great opportunity for fellowship. Ticket prices are the same as they were 2 years ago, $30 for adults and $15 for kids. Tickets will not be sold the day of the event.
Mission Team Chicago’s Annual Benefit Dinner
February 16th at St. John the Baptist Church, Des Plaines, IL. Speaker: Metropolitan Savas of Pittsburg. Suggested cost: $30. Divorce Rebuilders and Relationships Group
offers support to those who are separated or divorced. Meetings begin Monday, Feb. 6th, for six weeks at SS. Peter and Paul. There will be two sessions: 6:45 pm for newly separated, divorced, or new to the group, and 8:00-9:00pm for discussion on building successful relationships and dating after divorce. Cemetery Spaces Available:
SS. Peter and Paul along with some of our Sister Parishes and Memorial Park Cemetery in Skokie have developed a new Greek Orthodox section called “Garden of the Resurrection.” To be part of this program, please contact the church office.
Coffee Fellowship Ministry
The following Sundays are available for parishioners to host a Coffee Fellowship: all Sundays in March and beyond. Reserve the date of your choice to honor a birthday, nameday, anniversary, another occasion, in memory of a loved one, or just to treat your fellow parishioners.
