The Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago announced today the creation of a COVID-19 Parish Relief Fund to support parishes under significant financial distress as a result of the global COVID-19 pandemic.

We reflect on the blessings in our lives at times of darkness in the world and remember our true calling. This is an opportunity to ensure that our individual generosity supports our home parish in its 60^th year. This is an opportunity to recognize that our purpose as a community within Glenview, IL, is to be a beacon of Orthodoxy to all.

That page could be drafted to support the message and include first the pledge to and donate to SSPP buttons, then continue with a button for contribution through SSPP to be designated for the Metropolis of Chicago Fund for Parish Relief. Very clearly we would include the information that the Metropolis has ensured that 100% of the donations to that fund will be used by the parishes in need.

the council has voted at the April meeting to donate $5k from cash reserves, recognizing that several budget expenses will not be realized in 2020. Further and in consultation with Presbytera Mary, the Father George Scoulas Memorial Fund has donated $10k. The $15k donation from SS Peter and Paul has been completed as an initial offering. Through the next 4 weeks all individuals in the parish are encouraged to support our ongoing efforts to ensure our home parish remains financially sound through pledging and stewardship, while we do as much as possible for our sister parishes with much greater need. The council will revisit a further donation at the 21-May Parish Council meeting, to include all funds designated by our individual parishioners and any prudent surplus from budget analysis.
