Saints Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church recently presented two non-profit organizations with donations of $8,400 each, representing a portion of proceeds from the Glenview church’s 2019 Greek Fest.

The donation recipients are: Family Service Center (FSC), a mental health agency serving Glenview, Wilmette, Northbrook and Kenilworth; and Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF), a collegiate campus ministry with some 200 university chapters in the U.S. and Canada.

“Our annual Greek Fest gives the parish an opportunity to reach out to our neighbors in Glenview and surrounding communities – to share our Greek cuisine, our culture and our Faith,” noted Rev. Fr. Richard Demetrius Andrews, pastor of Saints Peter and Paul Church. “In addition, we want to give some of the event proceeds back to the community by selecting one local and one national or international organization each year as recipients. We are pleased to be supporting these two worthwhile organizations.”

“Family Service Center is honored to be chosen as a beneficiary of Greek Fest and we appreciate that the Saints Peter and Paul parish recognizes the value of our work in the community,” said Renee Dominguez, Ph.D., FSC executive director. “The donation will make a significant impact and allow us to deliver critical services to FSC’s clients most in need.”

Family Service Center, with offices in Wilmette, provides clinical insight, individual counseling for children and adults, family counseling, student health and safety assessments, community crisis response, outreach, education and consultation.

Dn. Marek Simon, executive director of Orthodox Christian Fellowship, stated “OCF is grateful to Saints Peter and Paul Church for the donation, as well as the commitment from this community to supporting college students. Over 60 students will attend a regional retreat this fall, which would not be possible without this gracious gift.”

OCF provides students with a home away from home, opportunities to learn about their Orthodox faith and skills to be effective Orthodox leaders. Student life on campus focuses on four key areas: fellowship, education, worship and service.

Saints Peter and Paul Church will host the 2020 Glenview Greek Fest on Saturday, July 25, and Sunday, July 26, on its church grounds at 1401 Wagner Rd. (at Lake Ave.)
